From Adventure Seeker to Life Teacher - Leon Dziduch

Meet Leon. Father of four with a deep-rooted passion for the outdoors. From exploring hidden tracks, chasing the sunset or casting a line at the perfect fishing spot, if it's outdoors, it's for Leon. As Sales Manager at MAXTRAX, his days are spent connecting with customers and retailers, sharing this passion for the outdoors. Whether it's offroading through rugged terrain or unwinding by the campfire after a long day surrounded by close mates, it's the little things that mother nature offers and taking the time to unplug as a family unit that Leon aims to instill in his kids.

Introduce yourself and tell us about what you do for work and/or fun?

My name is Leon Dziduch, I’m a sales manager who thoroughly enjoys time in the trade with customers and retailers talking about all things outdoors in general.

Sharing stories about anything from “the fish that got away” to that amazing sunset location at the end of a 4wd track, I thrive on listening to the experiences people have to share with me.

If it’s outdoors then its for me, so exploring new locations, fishing, camping, offroading and wrapping it up around a campfire is what it's all about in my opinion.

How do you Make Space For Adventure while being a Father? What changes have you made to your activities after becoming a Father?

Being a father of 4 wonderful kids, I’ve always ensured we take time out as a family unit and get away camping. I’ve tried to instill in them to appreciate the little things the bush and beaches have to offer.

Tell us about an adventure you’ve taken your kids on?

We love spending time on Moreton Island and venture there regularly. Camping on the Eastern side in winter is spectacular. We bring the whole crew, their cousins, partners, even mates from school come along so it's a logistical nightmare but so much fulfilling fun regardless.

We enjoy setting up on a protected part of the island somewhere to enjoy each others company while swimming, fishing, eating, and playing tunes and telling stories.

Why is continuing to be adventurous with your kids important to you?

The time away and disconnection from our complex lives can be good for your mindset and to appreciate the “uncomplicated” through unplugging for a while.

It helps us stay connected as a family unit and although we are all very different individuals in different stages of our lifecycle. The adventure brings us all together for a while, the preparation and excitement of getting into that adventure is so enjoyable and we’re always preparing for the next adventure.

What essential gear do you carry? How does Rhino-Rack fit into your adventure - what gear has helped? Any packing or gear tips for other Fathers?

Haha, MAXTRAX that's a no brainer, water as you can never have enough water and shade. Being on the beach or in camp its great to have easily deployed shade and I mount all these essentials on my Rhino Pioneer rack.

Hot Tip…camping? Bring a shower, you will always be in your wife's good books!

What message do you want to share with Fathers this Father’s Day?

Just be present, sometimes we can get caught up in work or other things that can take you away from being present in the moment. Your kids will be thankful for it.

How do you balance your role as a Father with other aspects of your life, such as work or personal hobbies?

I ensure I make the time, take the time and be unapologetic for it. Sounds brutal but I actually plan well in advance so that's probably another tip.
